Powerwest was established in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 1989 by Jeff Green. At that time, Jeff identified there was a need for a company to supply cost effective, fuel efficient and reliable power generation solutions, pumps and lighting towers to the mining and resources industry, and Powerwest was established to meet that need.

Before long, Powerwest drew the attention of some of the biggest and most well-known names in the mining and resources industry. We quickly earned a reputation for living up to our promises. Our attention to detail and quality, without compromising safety, also impressed. This same commitment to excellence in everything we do remains part of our DNA today.

In 2003, Coates Hire purchased our pump and lighting tower assets for $5.8 million.

Today, Powerwest remains a family-owned company and employs a team of 25 employees and contractors, with the capability to successfully manage power generation projects with a power requirement up to 20MW.

We began working with Paulsens gold mine 15 years ago; this mine was sold by Intrepid to Northern Star Resources in 2010. Our work with the Challenger gold mine began 12 years ago; at the time the mine was owned by Kingsgate Consolidated — they sold the mine to Challenger in 2016.

Other clients include Mount Gibson’s Koolan Island iron ore project, Kimberley Diamonds Ellendale diamond project, Barminco Eloise copper mine, Oxiana (now Oz Minerals) Sepon copper gold mine and other ASX200 listed companies.
